Dr. Matthias Schmidt

Matthias is an experienced and approachable dentist who is committed to providing high-quality care in a calm and welcoming environment. He graduated in 2006 from Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in Germany and moved to England the same year to begin his dental career.

In 2007, Matthias completed a PhD in Dental Phobia, which has given him a strong understanding of how dental anxiety affects patients. This helps him to support nervous patients and create a relaxed atmosphere where people feel comfortable attending appointments.

After working as an associate dentist in Norfolk, Matthias moved to South East London in 2010, where he worked in a family-orientated mixed NHS and private practice. In 2015, Matthias and Sarita purchased their first mixed NHS and private dental practice together, further strengthening their experience in both patient care and practice leadership.

Matthias continues to develop his skills through regular professional training and has completed courses in cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, orthodontics, and implant dentistry. He is certified by Orthocaps to provide clear aligner treatment for adults.

He works in collaboration with Gallions Reach Dental Clinic and The Implant Experts Maidstone in relation to implant dentistry and is developing a special interest in this area.

In 2023, Matthias and Sarita took over St Michael’s Dental Care. They look forward to welcoming existing patients and meeting new patients in the years ahead.

Outside of work, Matthias enjoys going to the gym, playing football and golf, and spending time with his daughters.
