Straight, symmetrical teeth are possible for patients of all ages with our extensive range of sophisticated orthodontic treatments.

At St. Michael’s Dental Care, we believe a straighter smile helps you to feel more confident and enhance dental function, so we provide straightening systems designed for adults.

Many people shy away from orthodontic treatment due to concerns around the appearance of braces, uncomfortable straightening appliances and lengthy treatment times. For these reasons, we offer our patients the latest in orthodontic technology.

Why have orthodontic treatment?

The first aim of orthodontic treatment is to align the teeth and create an improved aesthetic appearance. However, many people do not realise that straighter teeth can improve their dental function and reduce bite problems and associated jaw pain.

If your mouth is overcrowded before you begin orthodontic treatment, we will remove the extra teeth to create more space for your remaining teeth to move into their new position.

At the end of orthodontic treatment, you will be provided with a retainer. This is worn to maintain the new position of your teeth and to make the most of your treatment.

Invisalign® is an effective orthodontic solution for minor to moderate misalignment of
teeth such as an overbite, underbite, open bite, crossbite, overcrowding and gaps. The
Invisalign® orthodontic system uses a series of SmartTrack® transparent, BPA-free,
flexible aligners that look similar to teeth whitening trays.

The aligners are customised for your unique smile by trained Invisalign® technicians,
who use a digital scanner and CAD/CAM technology to map out your treatment plan.
The imaging software depicts your teeth’s final position and each set of aligners is
fabricated to help you attain that goal.

Invisalign® performs the same function as traditional metal braces, but without the
discomfort of mouth abrasions from the brackets and wires and the inconvenience of a
restricted diet and time-consuming oral hygiene routine.

The aligners must be worn for 20-22 hours each day for optimal results. You can remove
them to eat and brush and floss your teeth. You switch to the next set of aligners in the
series every 2 weeks, and your dentist monitors your progress every 4-6 weeks. The
length of treatment varies by case but on average takes 12-24 months.

On completion of your treatment you will be fitted with a retainer to ensure your teeth
do not return to their former position.

A great smile boosts confidence and creates a good first impression. Smilelign can help you achieve the smile you want using virtually invisible aligners.

Smilelign is an innovative orthodontic system that integrates the latest software and 3D CAD CAM technology to enable technicians to produce a series of aligners tailor-made just for you. This technology also allows us to discuss each stage of your treatment with you and you can even watch a computerised animation showing the movements your teeth will make as you progress through the treatment.

You will begin by wearing a pre-aligner, a provisional brace designed to help you decide if Smilelign treatment is right for you.

If you decide to go ahead, you wear your transparent plastic aligners for 2 weeks and 22-23 hours a day before changing to the next one in the series. Each aligner is carefully designed to move your teeth in small increments. Results can be achieved in as little as 3 months, depending on the severity of your condition.

Smilelign is an excellent treatment option for cosmetically straightening your teeth. Please call us on 01622 758537 to book a consultation if you are seeking a fast-acting, affordable and discreet solution for straightening your smile.

Do you want a straighter smile in a short amount of time? Cfast™ is a revolutionary orthodontic treatment system that can gently realign your teeth in as little as 3-6 months.

The device can achieve quick results because it focuses on the social 6 teeth in both your upper and lower jaws — in other words, the front 6 teeth your friends, family, and colleagues see when you speak, smile, or laugh.

The appliance is incredibly discreet, incorporating clear brackets and tooth-coloured nickel-titanium wires to make your treatment virtually invisible.

Not only is Cfast™ one of the quickest orthodontic treatments available, but it’s also one of the most comfortable, as less force is required to move the teeth.

Cfast™ is more affordable than many alternative treatment options because the treatment time is typically shorter. Contact us on 01622 758537 to find out how this affordable, discreet and minimally invasive orthodontic treatment can give you a picture-perfect smile in no time!

Inman Aligner

For more complex adult orthodontic issues, we offer the Inman Aligner which can change the position of your teeth in just three months.

This removable straightening system sits behind the teeth, with just a single clear wire on show at the front. It’s very difficult to notice and you have the choice of removing it for important events.

The Inman Aligner moves the teeth by exerting a gentle pressure via the opposing forces working on the back and front of the teeth. Similar to a traditional retainer, it is gentle and comfortable but is far more discrete and attractive to wear.

It can be used to treat overcrowding problems, bite issues and to realign the front top and lower teeth. Your Inman Aligner will be specifically made for you and you will need to visit us every month or so for a quick check up.

It is removed for eating and cleaning and is worn for up to 20 hours a day. Treatment can take between two to six months.
